Irish-founded payments firm Stripe has announced a partnership with URBN, the parent company of Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie Group, Free People, and FP Movement.

The deal will see Stripe becoming the primary payments infrastructure for URBN which has billions of dollars in annual sales.

The company will use a range of Stripe products, including terminals for in-person shopping, and Stripe's checkout suite for online sales.

URBN is consolidating the majority of its North American payments volume onto Stripe in a move that we see Stripe terminals becoming its primary in-store checkout option at more than 600 locations.

"Payments are a critical link between our brands and millions of URBN customers who expect checkouts to be as easy as trying on an outfit or adding items to a cart," said Dave Hayne, chief technology officer at URBN.

"Stripe lets us stay focused on building the best unified commerce experience possible by removing the complexity of payments across our brands," Mr Hayne said.

Eileen O’Mara, Chief Revenue Officer at Stripe said shoppers expect an easy checkout experience and businesses want high authorisation rates.

"We’re thrilled our partnership will enable both for URBN," Ms O'Mara said.
