A woman has been arrested as part of the investigation into the disappearance and murder of six-year-old Kyran Durnin.
The woman, who is in her 50s, was arrested this morning.
She is being held at a garda station in the eastern region.
She is the third person to be arrested in connection with the investigation.
A search under warrant is also being carried out at a home in Drogheda, Co Louth.
Kyran was first reported missing to gardaí in Drogheda in August 2024.
They were initially told he had not been seen for a few days, however it subsequently emerged that by that time, Kyran had been missing for almost two years.
His school had been informed in the summer of 2022 that he would not be back for the following term.
Gardaí in Drogheda began a murder investigation and searched a house in Drogheda.
In December 2024, a woman who had been living in the UK was arrested in connection with the investigation. She was later released without charge.
A 36-year-old man who knew the woman, Anthony Maguire, was arrested on suspicion of Kyran's murder and gardaí also searched his home at Beechwood Drive in Drogheda.
Maguire was suspected of having been involved in the provision of false information to Tusla in relation to Kyran's disappearance.
Maguire was released without charge was found dead at his home six days later in what gardai are treating as "a personal tragedy."
Gardaí say investigations are ongoing.
