A Co Wexford machinery sales and repair provider has topped the latest Tax Defaulters List, with a total bill of more than €1.7 million.

Francis Cullen, with an address at Old Dublin Road in Enniscorthy, was found to have not declared income tax, PAYE, PRSI, USC and VAT to the tune of €859,198.

It followed an investigation by Revenue.

When interest of €204,169 and penalties of €710,729 were added, the total amount he owed the taxman rose to €1,774,096, of which €1,766,961 remains unpaid.

The second largest figure in the quarterly list for the period covering July to September was for a settlement of more than €1 million by a Co Westmeath PAYE employee.

Marina Jane Loddick of Ballymurray, Mount Temple in Moate, was fined for the non-declaration of €482,946 in income tax and VAT, after a Revenue investigation.

When interest and penalties were added, the total sum owed increased to €1,028,584.

The third highest settlement on the latest list was made by Keith McFadden, with an address at Drumdaff House, Turlough in Castlebar in Co Mayo.

Following a Revenue audit, the car dealer, who trades as Sava Motors, was found to have under-declared income tax and VAT to the tune of €460,245.

When interest and penalties were added, the settlement owed increased to €892,501, of which the total amount remains outstanding.
