A man in his 50s has been arrested in connection with the death of a man in his 30s in Cork this morning.
Gardaí and emergency services were called to a house at Hollyville, Hollyhill, in Cork at around 4.30am.
They found the 38-year-old man seriously injured, but still conscious.
He is believed to have been stabbed.
He was taken to Cork University Hospital where he later died.
A post-mortem examination will be carried out on his body.
Gardaí began an investigation and a 55-year-old man was arrested for questioning. He's detained under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
A senior investigating officer has been appointed to lead the investigation. A family liaison officer has also been appointed.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact them.
