Man in his 40s dies in fire at house in west Dublin

A man in his 40s has died following a fire at a domestic residence in Lucan, Dublin.

The man is understood to be originally from Poland.

A garda investigation is under way into the cause of the fire.

Its is understood he was living at a house in Lucan village which has been divided into flats.

Another resident in the building raised the alarm and gardaí from nearby Lucan Garda Station were quickly on the scene.

However the man was pronounced dead after emergency services arrived.

Several residents from a nearby building had to leave their accommodation whilst the blaze was contained but were able to return later once it had been confirmed that the structure of the building had not been affected.

An Garda Síochána said it was aware of commentary in circulation online in relation to this incident which contained misinformation, disinformation and fake news.

They appealed to the public to independently verify any information that is shared on social media or sent through messaging sharing apps.
