Watch: Pupils excited ahead of BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition

Thousands of pupils will descend upon the RDS in Dublin this week to participate in the 2025 BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition.

Thousands of secondary school pupils around Ireland submitted 2,069 projects to compete in the competition, from which 550 projects were selected to go through to the showcase at the RDS.

President Michael D Higgins will officially open the exhibition tomorrow at a ceremony for students and teachers.

Speaking ahead of the event, he said, "The future of humanity requires a science without borders built on co-operation in the interest of humanity, accepted as a shared responsibility. I have faith in the ability of our young Irish scientists to locate their gifts, their brilliance, in a moral and ethical context."

Meanwhile, organisers have said some schools "may not make" this year's exhibition due to adverse weather conditions.
