A post-mortem examination will be conducted later today on the body of a woman found at her home in Mallow, Co Cork, yesterday morning.
The woman has been named locally as 31-year-old Paula Canty.
She was originally from Kinsale in Co Cork and had only moved to Mallow in recent months.
Her body was found when gardaí were called to her apartment at Bridewell Lane in the town at 10.30am yesterday.
Last night, her body was brought to the morgue at Cork University Hospital, where Assistant State Pathologist Dr Margot Bolster will conduct a post-mortem examination.
A technical and forensic examination at her apartment on Bridewell Lane will continue this morning.
Gardaí have also been conducting door-to-door enquiries in the neighbourhood, on the eastern edge of the town.
They are appealing to people who were in the area on Thursday night and yesterday morning to contact them.
