A man in his 40's who was shot at a building site in Co Wicklow last week has died in hospital.

The man and his teenage son were attacked at Bellview Hill in Delgany at around 4.30pm last Thursday evening.

The man was shot in both arms and legs, his son was badly beaten.

Both were taken to hospital and while the teenager recovered, the man died in hospital yesterday.

A post mortem is to be carried out to establish the cause of death and the course of the garda investigation.

However, gardaí believe an underlying, unrelated medical condition, may have contributed to the man’s death.

Investigating officers are still appealing for witnesses to the attack or anyone with dashcam or other footage to contact them.

They are specifically looking for information on the movements of a 2007 black Ford Focus hatchback on between 3pm and 5pm in the Delgany area last Thursday between Bellevue Hill and Kindlestown Woods car park.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Greystones Garda station on 01 666 5800, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.
