Two men were arrested at a protest at the Israeli Embassy in Dublin this evening.

One of the men climbed over the fence outside the embassy and threw red paint over a door. He was subsequently arrested and led away by gardaí.

Several hundred people attended the demonstration at the embassy on Shelbourne Road.

Earlier, a few protesters stamped on and then burned a small Israeli flag which had been left with flowers and sympathy cards outside the embassy.

Others replaced the flowers which had been knocked over.

The protest began outside Leinster House at around 5.30pm, where people gathered to voice their support for the people of Gaza.

It then marched from Kildare Street to Shelbourne Road. Gardaí have said that the crowd was fully dispersed before 11pm.
