An eight-year-old boy attacked by two dogs in Dublin has died in hospital.

The boy was attacked by two Rottweiler dogs yesterday afternoon.

At around 4pm, the emergency services responded to a 999 call at a house in Tallaght.

When they got there, they discovered the boy with life-threatening injuries.

Gardaí said they were investigating all the circumstances surrounding the attack, but were treating it as a tragic incident.

The dog warden was notified and the dogs were confiscated and put to sleep.
