US police investigating a murder-suicide in Reno, Nevada have said they believe 53-year-old Irish woman Joan Huber had shot her husband and their two teenage children, before taking her own life.

Detectives investigating the incident on 4 March say the weapon used in the case has been identified as a firearm.

Police say they are still actively investigating the case and there is no known motive at this time.

On Wednesday morning, police called to the Huber family home in Reno and discovered the bodies of Ms Huber, her husband 50-year-old Adam Huber and their two sons - 17-year-old Adam and 16-year-old Michael.

The local medical examiner's office said that all four died from gunshot wounds.

Joan Huber was originally from Co Kerry and had been living in the US for around 30 years.
