The body of a man in his 20s has been recovered from a canal in Co Cavan.
It comes after a car entered the Woodford River at Ballyheady Bridge on the Ballinamore to Ballyconnell road at around 6.30pm this evening.
Two other men who were in the car at the time managed to escape and raise the alarm.
Following a search of the canal tonight, the man's body was located and taken from the water.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The two other occupants of the car, who are also in their 20s, were not injured but one of them was taken to Cavan General Hospital as a precaution.
It is believed the men had travelled to the area from Naas in Co Kildare.
A technical examination of the scene is under way and the road remains closed.
Local diversions are in place.
