The attempted raid on the Bar One Racing betting office in Glanmire on Saturday evening attracted international attention after CCTV footage of it went viral.
It showed great-grandfather Denis O'Connor, a customer in the betting office at the time, and office manager Tim Murphy successfully resisting three masked raiders who had demanded the contents of the safe.
The raiders were armed with hammers and a shotgun. However, they fled empty-handed, pursued by Mr O'Connor.

They have renewed their appeal for information about a black Volkswagen Passat, with a partial registration number of 01-TS.
They are asking people who may have seen that car or who may have dashcam footage of it in the Glanmire or Cork City areas between 4pm and 7pm on Saturday to contact them.
The items seized this morning will now be examined.
It is understood that a car has also been technically examined as part of the investigation.
