An explosive device has been made safe in Co Cork.

What is thought to have been a World War II mine was brought ashore in Kinsale by a fishing vessel earlier today.

An Army bomb disposal team was called in and gardaí cordoned off the pier area.

The device was dealt with and the area has since been reopened.
