A 36-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of David 'Daithi' Douglas who was shot dead in Dublin on 1 July.
Frederick 'Freddie' Thompson from Loreto Road, Maryland, in Dublin 8 was arrested and charged by detectives from Kevin Street Garda Station with the murder of the 53-year-old on Bridgefoot Street in The Liberties area of the city.
The accused was brought under armed garda escort to the Dublin District Court this morning.
Mr Douglas, a father of one, is the ninth victim of an ongoing feud between the Hutches and the Kinanhans.
Detective Inspector Paul Cleary from Kevin Street gave evidence today of arrest, charge and caution.
He told the court that he arrested Freddie Thompson at 6.35pm on Saturday and when he was charged with the murder of Mr Douglas he made no comment.
Defence Solicitor John Quinn applied for free legal aid and handed in a statement of means.
There was no objection to Mr Thompson appearing by video link and he was remanded in custody to appear again at Cloverhill District Court next Friday.
He did not speak during the brief hearing but gestured to his sister that he would phone her as he was being led away.
As he is facing a charge of murder there was no application for bail.
