A murder investigation has been launched after a man was shot at a house in west Belfast.

The shooting happened at a house in Glenwood Court in Poleglass on the outskirts of the city.

It is understood a gunman went into the house, singled out a man who was there and shot him at close range.

The 43-year-old victim was seriously wounded and taken to hospital where he died a short time later.

The area around the scene of the killing has been sealed off and PSNI detectives are trying to establish a motive for the attack.

The shooting has been condemned by Sinn Féin and the SDLP.
