Tánaiste Frances Fitzgerald has said human trafficking is a crime against humanity, which had no place in a modern and civilised society.

Ms Fitzgerald was speaking in Dublin at the launch of the second Anti-Human Trafficking Plan, which sets out 65 actions to combat the crime.

It aims to crack down on individuals and gangs involved in human trafficking, as well as supporting victims and raising public awareness.

From 2009 to 2015, 417 trafficking victims were reported to or detected by gardaí.
