Gardaí have confirmed that they are no longer searching for a third possible suspect involved in yesterday's armed raid of a post office in An Coireán, Co Kerry.
They said that they believe a third person was involved "directly or indirectly" with the robbery
Earlier, a search for the possible suspect took place in the Beaufort area, with over 40 gardaí involved in the operation.
For most of today officers searched for evidence, including the hand gun used in the raid, in fields and outbuildings close to where two suspects were arrested yesterday.
They also searched for evidence including items of post stolen in the raid at the post office in An Coireán, as well as clothing.
It is not known if any cash has been recovered. It is now understood that the amount taken in the raid may be smaller than initially believed as raiders did not get away with a cash delivery which had just been made.
Three of five crime scenes were technically examined by members of the Garda Forensic Crime Investigation unit from Cork.
Two garda detectives who were injured in a ramming incident following the robbery were discharged from hospital late last night with soft tissue injuries.
Their unmarked car was repeatedly rammed after the raiders threatened the officers with a gun.
Three warning shots were fired by the gardaí.
Two men who were arrested are being held at garda stations in Tralee and Killarney.
They were arrested after they were found hiding in a farm yard in the Beaufort area. Both men's periods of detention have been extended until lunchtime tomorrow.
Both men, who are in their 30s and from Killarney, are well known to gardaí.
Chief Superintendent Con Cadigan said that there was a great response to a local area alert text that was sent out yesterday and he believed that the local community would assist gardaí again today.
Speaking on RTÉ’s Morning Ireland, Mr Cadigan appealed to local people to search their land and premises today.
"Landowners and property owners would be the first to notice anything alien to the area and we'd ask them not to be afraid to ring us immediately if they do come across anything," he said.
Gardaí are appealing to witnesses to contact Killarney Garda Station on 064-6671160.
They are particularly interested in the movements of a Blue Ford Ka 99-D-84126 and Navy Blue Mazda 6 03 -D-8947.
Both cars were burned out by the raiders after they abandoned them.
