A young woman has sustained serious facial injuries after a stabbing incident in Cork city.

The 29-year-old sustained stab wounds to her face during an incident yesterday morning involving a man at Ardfallen Terrace, off Friar St.

The woman was taken to Cork University Hospital where she is continuing to receive treatment.

It is understood her injuries are not life threatening.

Gardaí have appealed to anyone who may have been in the area between 11am and 11.40am yesterday to contact them.
