Independent TD Sean Conlan has been remanded on bail after he appeared before a sitting of Carrickmacross District Court this morning.
The former FG deputy, with an address at Ballybay in Co Monaghan, faces two charges arising out of an incident in the family pub in Ballybay on 23 August.
Garda Inspector Kevin Gavigan from Carrickmacross Garda Station told the court that Mr Conlan faced two charges under the firearms and offensive weapons act and another of assault causing harm.
He told the court that it was alleged the victim sustained a severe cut to his arm having been "glassed" and required a number of stitches.
There were no objections to bail by the State.
Bail was granted on condition that Mr Conlan does not either directly or indirectly contact the alleged victim or witnesses in the case.
Deputy Conlan was remanded on his own bail of €100 to appear before Carrickmacross District Court in January.
