The Electricity Supply Board has said it will appeal the recent High Court judgment in the case taken against it by University College Cork.

The Hight Court ruled this week that the ESB was 60% liable for damage caused to UCC's campus from flooding in November 2009.

The judge also ruled that UCC was 40% liable due to contributory negligence.

In a statement confirming its decision to appeal, the ESB said it was firmly of the view that following the heavy rains in November 2009, the actions of its staff in the management of the Lee dams protected Cork from the worst of the flooding.
