A fresh appeal for information in relation to the murder of Limerick man John Cusack has been made by Crimestoppers.

Mr Cusack was found dead at his farm in Murroe, Co Limerick, on 25 September 1995.

He was discovered lying face down by the local postman. He had been shot twice, once in the head and once in the back.

He was last seen by his daughter two days before he was found dead, when he dropped her at her flat in Limerick on 23 September.

The 56-year-old father-of-seven was well known in the farming community throughout Limerick.

Gardaí appealed for information relating to Mr Cusack’s murder last night on RTÉ’s CrimeCall.

Detective Inspector Eamon O'Neill said today: "Perhaps you were aware of suspicious activity in the run up to or between Saturday 23 September and Monday 25 September [1995] and thought nothing of it at the time.

"Even the smallest piece of information, which may seem insignificant, might help with the investigation," he added.

Det Insp O'Neill said the time of year of Mr Cusack's disappearance may jog people's memories.

"To help people recall the time of year, this was the Saturday after the All-Ireland football final between Dublin and Tyrone," he said.

He is also appealing to members of the farming community who may have planned to meet Mr Cusack that weekend and who may have thought it unusual that he did not show up.

"John Cusack was a man that was known far and wide throughout the country, especially among those in the farming community. He dealt in cattle, sheep and horses.

"Had anyone an appointment to meet him that weekend and thought it unusual that he did not turn up?".
