The executive committees of the Association of Secondary Teachers, Ireland (ASTI) and the Teachers' Union of Ireland (TUI) are to meet today to decide whether to recommend acceptance of a new agreement on Junior Cycle reform.
The deal was reached earlier this week at talks between the secondary teachers' unions and the Department of Education.
Minister for Education Jan O'Sullivan directly intervened in the discussions on Tuesday.
The ASTI and TUI said their intention would be that a ballot on the deal would take place "as early as practicable in autumn 2015", pending the approval of their executive committees.
