A grand jury in the US has returned charges against six Baltimore police officers in the death of Freddie Gray, Baltimore City State Attorney Marilyn Mosby has told a news conference.
Mr Gray, 25, died on 19 April of injuries suffered while in police custody and Ms Mosby had filed charges against the six officers earlier this month.
Ms Mosby said: "Now that the grand jury has also found probable cause to charge the aforementioned officers based upon the evidence, these officers who are presumed innocent until proven guilty are now scheduled to be arraigned on July 2nd."
The death of Mr Gray sparked days of protests and rioting in the east coast port city.
Mr Gray suffered spinal injuries at some stage between his arrest on 12 April and his arrival at a police station.
Police said he was not restrained during the ride, a violation of department policies. He died a week later.
US President Barack Obama said it is "absolutely vital" that the truth come out about Mr Gray's death.
