Talks between management and unions at Dublin Bus and Bus Éireann are continuing at the Labour Relations Commission in an effort to avert two days of industrial action planned for this weekend.
It is understood some progress has been made on a number of issues, including growth and funding of the bus companies into the future, strengthening of commitments to protect drivers' terms and the issue of what happens in 2019 when the National Transport Authority (NTA) could put more bus routes out to tender.

Representatives of Dublin Bus, Bus Éireann, the NTA and bus driver unions, SIPTU and the NBRU, have been in the LRC since lunchtime in an effort to resolve the dispute.
The strike, scheduled for Friday and Saturday, is among a number of days of action in a dispute over Government plans to put 10% of public routes out to tender.
The talks are continuing into the night.
