Four members of the same family, along with a fifth person, have appeared in court in connection with a violent disorder incident in Co Cork yesterday.
Simon Quilligan, 46, his sons Sammy, 18 and John, 22, daughter Lisa Gray, 27, and her partner Patrick Cash, 35, all with an address at Ballymartin, Dungourney in Midleton were charged with the possession of offensive weapons capable of causing serious bodily harm.
Among the weapons the State alleges they possessed were knives, shovels, a rake, a step ladder and sticks.
Mallow District Court was told that when all five were arrested, charged and cautioned they made no reply.
The State objected to bail in all five cases due to the seriousness of the charges.
However, Judge Brian Sheridan granted bail to four of the defendants, with a number of conditions attached, to appear again before Midleton District Court on 15 January 2015.
Mr Cash was remanded in custody to appear before Midleton District Court on Thursday so he can show evidence of a permanent address.
An application for free legal aid for all five was granted.
