Examinations are being carried out on a human skull found yesterday on Burrow Beach in Sutton, Dublin.
A man out walking made the discovery at around 1pm.
Gardaí were called to the scene and were assisted in searching the area by Dublin Coast Guard.
A small bone, also believed to be human, was also found.
The skull was examined by a doctor and confirmed to be human.
It was taken to the city morgue for further examination.
The skull appeared to be in the sea for a long period of time.
Investigations are ongoing to identify the person and establish the cause of death.
