A shooting incident that took place in Islandbridge at around 7pm is being investigated by gardaí.
It is believed that a number of shots were fired.
No injuries have been reported.
Local Fianna Fáil Councillor Daithí De Róiste has called for more garda resources following tonight's incident.
"Gardaí have a very strong record on crime detection but there is a fear in our communities now that more needs to be done to prevent violent crime - a fear that must be addressed as a matter of urgency," he said.
