The final day of the National Ploughing Championships at Ratheniska in Co Laois has taken place today.

Organisers said attendance numbers reached a record high, with over 279,500 in attendance over the course of the championships.

Eamonn Tracey from Carlow won the National Ploughing Conventional competition, and Betty Williams from Clonmel, South Tipperary won the hotly contested National Brown Bread Baking final.

The event is Europe's largest outdoor exhibition and agricultural trade show.
