The funeral of Thomas Keaney, the young Irishman who died following an assault in Australia shortly before Christmas, took place in Roundstone in Connemara today.
The 23-year-old is survived by his parents Tom and Ann, two sisters and a brother.
During his homily, Father James Ronayne said that while Thomas Keaney's death was a great tragedy, his life was not a tragedy.
He said his family showed great generosity in donating his organs and that four lives were changed because of this.
Thomas Keaney was laid to rest in nearby Gurteen cemetery.
