Seven men arrested in connection with a violent robbery at a house in Co Tipperary have had their periods of detention extended.

The seven men appeared before a special sitting of Cashel District Court before midnight.

All seven have had their period of detention extended.

Mark and Emma Corcoran and their three young children were threatened and attacked by a gang of armed raiders who broke into their home outside Killenaule in the early hours of yesterday morning.

They remain extremely traumatised by their ordeal.

The seven men, who are all from Dublin, were detained following high-speed pursuits along the Dublin-to-Cork motorway.
