Labour Party deputy leader Joan Burton has said she has a "strong political relationship" with her party leader Eamon Gilmore.

She said that suggestions to the contrary were not coming from her.

The Minister for Social Protection said that an opinion poll that shows Labour support at 6% is "concerning", but added the party would continue its work in Government.

Mr Gilmore has said that Labour will contest the next election on the basis of its achievements in office.

He said he intended to complete his term as leader of the Labour Party.
