The deadline for third-level grant applications is midnight tonight.

Students were given extra time to fill out their forms online after the Student Universal Support Ireland (SUSI) system crashed last Thursday.

SUSI says students who submit their grant applications by midnight will be prioritised, but that it is possible to apply for a grant after the deadline.

Head of Operations at SUSI Alan Murphy says students should log on and submit their applications as soon as possible.

"Students who submit their application before the deadline will be prioritised so they'll have the best chance of being awarded a grant if they're eligible and receiving payment before the end of October."

Students with concerns can contact SUSI at or on 0761-087874.
