The man accused of killing Irish woman Jill Meagher in Australia last September has pleaded guilty to her murder.
Adrian Ernest Bayley, 41, made an earlier than expected appearance at the Supreme Court of Victoria in Melbourne this morning.
He had last month pleaded guilty to raping the 29-year-old, who was originally from Drogheda in Co Louth, but had indicated he would fight the murder charge.
Ms Meagher's body was found 50km northwest of Melbourne after she had failed to return home from a night out with workmates.
Bayley was remanded in custody to appear in court again in June.
Ms Meagher's uncle said her family in Ireland is relieved that there will not be a trial in relation to her death.
Michael McKeown said their pain, bereavement and grief have not gone away.
He said the family is now awaiting the final outcome of the judicial process in Australia.
