Man jailed at Belfast Crown Court for rape of daughter

A man who raped his teenage daughter 25 years ago has been jailed for nine-and-a-half years.

His daughter waived her legal right to anonymity so that James McKenzie, 63, of Ballyclare, Co Antrim, could be named in public.

The judge described the rape, which took place in the bathroom of the family home, as an appalling breach of trust.

He ordered McKenzie to sign the sex offenders' register for the rest of his life.

McKenzie was also barred from ever contacting his daughter, having unsupervised contact with children and from living anywhere without approval of social services.
