Seven gardaí suffered minor injuries after three cars they were travelling in were rammed during a high speed pursuit.
The incident happened at Windgates near Bray in Co Wicklow.
It is understood two patrol cars and an unmarked garda car were struck by a vehicle they had been pursuing.
One garda was treated in hospital for laceration injuries.
The incident followed the robbery of a poor box from St Fergal's Church in Bray around 1pm.
A black car was pursued by gardaí from Bray to Greystones and then back towards Bray when the ramming occurred.
A man in his 30s has been arrested and is being held Bray Garda Station.
Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to the incident to contact them.
