Event held to remember those who died by suicide

Approximately 1,000 people affected by suicide gathered in St Patrick's College in Maynooth earlier to remember their loved ones.

The event was organised by Console, the national suicide awareness charity.

The commemoration included music, poetry and readings and featured many well-known Irish artists.

Ciaran Austin of Console said the commemoration was a chance for the many people who lose a relative or friend through suicide to remember them in a special way approaching Christmas.
