Arrests made after two armed robberies in Dublin

Three men have been arrested following two separate armed robberies in Dublin today.

Two men armed with knives got away with a sum of money from the Permanent TSB on the Phibsborough Road this afternoon.

However, the men in their 40s were arrested a short distance away and all of the money was recovered.

A garda on mountain bike patrol has escaped injury after shots were fired during an armed robbery in Portmarnock in Dublin.

The officer confronted two men as they made their get away from the local credit union at around 5.30pm.

The men hijacked a car and fled the scene.

During a follow up search in the Belmayne area, gardai recovered a car along with a quantity of cash and a handgun.

A man in his 20s was arrested.
