A 36-year-old man was shot five times in the bedroom of the home he shared with his partner and two children in Tallaght five years ago, the Central Criminal Court heard today.
Paul Zambra, 35, of Inagh Road, Ballyfermot, Dublin, has pleaded not guilty to the murder of Sean McMahon at Donaghmore Avenue, Tallaght, on 14 November 2007.
The court was told the victim was awake in his bed at 8.40am when his partner Sinead Bates left to bring the children to school and go to work.
The prosecution said she discovered Mr McMahon's body later that morning when she returned to the house because a friend had called but could not contact him.
The court also heard that when Mr Zambra was arrested and charged with Mr McMahon’s murder he said he was totally innocent of the charge.
