A 55-year-old woman remains in a Co Offaly hospital after she was found unconscious near the body of her 11-year-old daughter.
Emily Barut, known locally as Emily Scully, was discovered at the home she shared with her mother, Dr Bernadette Scully, in Tullamore on Saturday.
The young girl, who was disabled, was pronounced dead a short time later, but the exact cause of her death is still not known.
A post mortem examination was inconclusive and toxicology tests have been ordered.
Gardaí are hoping to speak to her mother in the coming days in an attempt to establish what happened in the hours leading to the discovery.
Ms Scully, a GP in Tullamore, is in intensive care in the town's Midland Regional Hospital.
Gardaí are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
