Three men have been charged at the Special Criminal Court with membership of an illegal organisation known as the IRA.

They have been remanded in custody to appear again before the court next Friday.

The three are 33-year-old Nathan Kinsella of Matt Talbot Court in Dublin 1, 23-year-old Darragh Evans of Grange Park Rise in Raheny and 22-year-old Vincent Ryan of Grange Avenue Drive in Donaghmede.

The three were arrested as part of Operation Ambience, a garda  investigation into possible criminal activity at the funeral of Alan Ryan in Dublin last weekend.

Ryan, who was from Grange Abbey Drive in Donaghmede, was shot dead on Grange Lodge Avenue in Clongriffin last week.

He had served jail terms for IRA activities and gun possession. Detectives believe he had recently been involved in a Real IRA group that was in conflict with a Dublin drugs gang.
