Man arrested following Waterford assault

A 25-year-old man was arrested in Waterford following an assault at a house in the city early this morning.

Gardaí were called to the house at Scotch Quay around 2am where a man was being held by the occupants of the house after allegedly committing an assault.

When gardaí attempted to arrest the man he kicked a male garda knocking him to the ground.

The garda attended Waterford Regional Hospital where he was treated for a broken arm.

Gardaí say no-one else was injured in the incident.

The 25-year-old man was released later and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecution.
