The Prime Minister of Mauritius has indicated the intention of the authorities there to establish a judicial inquiry to see what further action could be taken in the case of the murder of Co Tyrone woman, Michaela McAreavey.
At a meeting today with Ireland's Ambassador to Mauritius in Port Louis, Navin Ramgoolam said the Mauritian government deeply regretted and condemned the leaking and publication of photographs in a local newspaper of the crime scene.
He advised Brendan McMahon that there would be a thorough police investigation into the matter and that anyone found to be involved would face prosecution.
Mr McMahon expressed concern about the publication of the images and the outcome of the trial in which two hotel workers were acquitted of the 27-year-olds murder.
