Mauritius Sunday Times Director General faces charges over publication of McAreavey images

The Director General of the Mauritius Sunday Times, Imran Hosany, is to appear in court tomorrow in connection with the publication of crime scene photographs after the murder of Michaela McAreavey.

He was detained at his home in Port Louis this morning and taken to Line Barracks Police Headquarters for questioning.

His arrest follows the raid on the newspaper's offices in Port Louis by police officers earlier this week.

Among the images published was a front page photograph of Mrs McAreavey's body.

There has been widespread condemnation of the publication of the images following the acquittal of two Mauritian men accused of the murder.

Mauritian police seized computers to work out how the photographs were leaked.
