The European Stability Mechanism Bill has passed the second stage in the Dáil by 91 votes to 24 and will now go to Committee stage.

Minister for Finance Michael Noonan had told the Dáil that the Government had no intention of vetoing the ESM.

Fianna Fáil TD Michael McGrath has said that ratifying the ESM was the right thing to do.

Elsewhere, Sinn Féin's Pearse Doherty called for the ESM treaty to be amended to include a jobs and growth agenda.
