Senator John Whelan of the Labour Party has said today that he intends to make a formal request to bring Tom Savage back before the Oireachtas Committee on Communications.
He will make the request to committee chairman Andrew Doyle when the Oireachtas resumes next Wednesday.
He will ask Mr Doyle to reconvene the committee with the purpose of inviting Mr Savage, the chairman of the RTÉ board, back before the committee as a witness.
Senator Whelan has said he intends to make the formal request following reports that the Communications Clinic had advised the Irish Missionary Union in advance of the screening of the Prime Time Investigates - A Mission to Prey programme.
Mr Savage and his wife Terry Prone are directors of the Communications Clinic.
Earlier today, Mr Doyle said that no request has been submitted to him or the secretariat of the committee from any member of the committee to invite the chair of the RTÉ board back before them.
