Dublin man Wayne Kinsella has been found guilty of the murder of another man in Tyrrelstown in west Dublin just over a year ago.
Kinsella, 40, originally from Finglas but with an address at The Plaza in Tyrrelstown, had pleaded not guilty to the murder of 31-year-old Adel Essalhi in the fields behind The Plaza on 6 January 2011.
The jury of five men and seven women deliberated for over two-and-a-half hours before reaching their verdict.
Kinsella was sentenced to life in prison.
Adil Essalhi's mother Geraldine said her son's murder had left a very big wound in his family, which would never heal.
She said he would live forever in the hearts of his sister, two brothers and five children, one of whom was born after the murder.
Mr Essalhi was drinking with Kinsella and others in the apartment where Kinsella lived with his girlfriend in Tyrrellstown.
The court was told that at some point, Kinsella and a relative of his got it into their heads that Mr Essalhi was involved in the killing of Kinsella's brother, Lee, who was shot dead in May 2006.
Kinsella and his relative lured Mr Essalhi out to fields at the back of the apartment complex.
The court heard Mr Essalhi was hit almost 60 times in the head, neck and arms with a knife and a machete type weapon.
His body was found in a ditch after Kinsella told gardaí a week later that they would find another man's body there.
The body had been bleached and burned.
The court was told Kinsella has 39 previous convictions including one for manslaughter.
He received an eight-year sentence in 1996 for killing an 86-year-old man at his wife's graveside in Glasnevin as he tried to mug the man.
He also has a conviction for cruelty to children.
