An investigation has been launched after the body of a 51-year-old woman was found in a flat in Dublin city centre last night.

The discovery was made in a flat in Liberty House at around 7pm.

Gardaí say they are anxious to speak to a group of people who were at a fast food outlet on Parnell Street at 3.15am on Sunday morning.

It is believed two women were involved in an altercation outside the outlet.

One of the women, who was in her 20s, was wearing a dark jacket, a black mini skirt or shorts with black tights and a sparkling top. She was carrying a black shoulder bag.

Investigating officers are appealing for anyone with information to contact Store Street Garda Station on 01-6668000, the Garda Confidential Line 1800-666111 or any garda station.
