The partner of a man who was murdered by loyalist gunmen is to take legal action against the PSNI after it emerged that police had retained part of the victim's skull without informing his family.
Anthony Butler, a 40-year-old father-of-one, was shot dead by the UFF in January 1993.
No-one was ever charged with his murder.
Earlier this week, the PSNI apologised for retaining human body parts from 64 people, including victims of the Troubles, without informing families.
Mr Butler's partner, Maureen Jamison, has said his family were shocked and angered by the announcement and have decided to take legal action against the police.
She said they did not accept the explanation given by the PSNI for not having informed the family at the time of the killing.
