A 36-year-old man has been found guilty at the Central Criminal Court of killing his friend and injuring another man.
Martin Toland of Walkinstown Park had pleaded not guilty to the murder of 28-year-old Alan Nolan in Ballyfermot in September 2007.
He was found guilty of manslaughter by reason of provocation, by a majority verdict this afternoon.
He was also found guilty of intentionally or recklessly causing serious injury to 32-year-old James Carroll on the same occasion.
Toland, who is missing part of a lung, claimed he had been acting in self defence when he stabbed both men a number of times at Mr Nolan's home.
He said he was in fear for his life when they attacked him because he was on a blood thinner and knew he could die from one blow.
The seven women and five men took just over six-and-a-half hours to reach their verdict.
Toland was originally found guilty of murder in January 2010, but his conviction was quashed by the Court of Criminal Appeal and this retrial was ordered.
